Welcome to my blog.

This blog is dedicated to candid discussion about issues discussed in my book, The Fragile Mind: How it has Produced and Unwittingly Perpetuated America’s Tragic Disparities. Thanks you for visiting my blog.

What happened to the Renaissance Men and Women?

Too many people go to work and keep their heads down while they are there, go home and watch TV, eat, spend a few moments with their spouse and kids, and do it all again the next day. When the weekend comes, they go to the grocery store, go to church, maybe catch a movie, watch a game or two, clean up the house, and complain about Monday coming. Sometimes they go to the movies, make it to the park, or beach with the kids. Few of us are interested in art, science, mathematics, music or literature. President Obama has the extraordinary knack of capturing the essence of a moment and delivering exactly what it demands.

Nearly 45 years after the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, racial disparities in education, employment, income, wealth, healthcare, housing, and incarceration seriously threaten America’s global competitiveness. While the issues are certainly complex, a significant contributing factor has been ignored.
